Master LiuYong demonstrating Chen Style Tai Chi in Hong Kong, 2005

20 Generation Chen Tai Chi Master LiuYong lives in Lianyungang, China where he hosts his Manlian Tai Chi School as president and main instructor, creating a centre for Chen Tai Chi (in Chinese it is pronounced taiji) enthusiasts to train to the highest level. He has over 3,000 students and many schools throughout China and has been featured in both TV documentaries and major newspapers in China.

Internationally recognized, Master LiuYong has students from Korea, Australia, Italy, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Japan and America and now has schools within his association in Turkey, India, three in the UK and now one in Thailand!!! Master LiuYong is an indoor student of 19th Generation Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei. During our school trip to see Master Liu in September 2007 he celebrated his 20th anniversary of studying tai chi! May he study for 40 more years!

I have been to study Tai Chi many times with Master Liu in China and it is so much fun. My Taiji has improved beyond a point I never thought possible and I am a happier, more content guy. Not only have I met loads of lovely, giddy tai chi people, ate lots of food, drank gallons of booze and laughed my socks off but I have witnessed some of the amazing feats associated with this legendary internal martial art - Master Liu's Dagan demonstration is one of them. Dagan is a way to test your internal strength without damaging anyone. In this VDO, Master LiuYong spirals his bones and peforms ‘fah-jin’ to make the end of the pole move WITHOUT using the arms, so at the finish, the arms must NOT be tense or pumped. Just watch this clip and know that when he stops his arms will still be as soft as a babies. Notice that his hands barely move – all that energy is from his internal movement
